Who are these classes for?
These classes are for special needs and/or developmentally delayed children who have not yet learned how to walk. Watchdog offers these classes according to demand. Typically, there are four to five children in the class. The classes are staffed by a special needs teacher and a certified childcare worker.
What is covered in these classes?
These sessions are held once weekly for an hour to an hour and a half. The classes are made up of four to five infants and are designed to encourage group socialization. Activities in these classes focus on the development of fine and gross motor skills as well as cognitive and language development. In addition to the group class, each child is offered an individual teaching session once per week. The speech and occupational therapists also provide their expertise to these classes by teaching parents activities to help the child attain his/her development milestones. One of the primary focuses of the baby class is to provide assistance, support and training to parents, whose involvement in these classes is required at all times.
What are the fees for the Baby Classes?
Fees for the baby classes are HK $550 per month and include:
- One to one and one half hour group session weekly.
- Weekly, individual teaching session.
- Training from speech and occupational therapists.
- Biannual assessment and parent review session.
- Additional therapy and counseling sessions are available by appointment.
What is my involvement as a parent?
Watchdog believes that parents play an important role in the training of their children. Parental involvement in the baby class is required at all times. In addition to the home activities provided by the teachers, speech and occupational therapists, parents are provided with goals in the biannual assessment reports.
