Parent Support
Watchdog is able to offer its services as a result of the commitment from parents, financial support from government, corporate and community sources and the dedication of Watchdog’s staff, who provide Hong Kong’s special needs children with the most advanced programs and assessment techniques available.
Parent involvement is very important to the programming at Watchdog. The Centre provides several supporting resources for the parents of our students.
Home Programming
Parents play a critical role in the training of their children. Parents are provided goals in the biannual assessment reports and they are expected to follow through at home with activities taught at school. Every classroom at the Centre is equipped with an observation room and sound system. Parents and caregivers are expected to observe classroom routines and individual programs on a regular basis. All families receive home visit from the professional staff involved with the child’s program. This can occur once or several times a year, depending on the needs of the child and his family. Class outings and family events are also organized on a regular basis.
Parent Resources & Toy Library
Watchdog operates a Parent Resources & Toy Library where various educational toys, books, computer software and periodicals are available for parents to borrow for home use as an extension of the Centre’s programming.
